Church, Anxiety, Reflection, You and the New Year

Brenda Moots #TeamILO Indian Lake Outfitters logan county new year thank you

I recently attended a candlelight church service on Christmas Eve with my family. It was a lovely service, warm atmosphere and good company. While sitting there, I realized it was the first time I had been back to that particular church without my grandmother sharing the family pew. Although we had many reasons to be thankful and celebrate the holidays, the thought of loss saddened me and I began to tear up.

Listening to the service, I was taking in the deeper message of the sermon based around a Star Wars analogy. Good verses evil. Choosing the right path. Making the right choices. Facing confrontation. Surrounding yourself with people who want to share in the same journey. Being a part of the bigger picture. As I looked around the room and began to reflect on the months passed, anxiety set in and the tears that were already welling started to stream.

A few days go by and I find myself sitting in a business meeting with similar direction. Sharing conversation of struggle, commitment, judgment, confrontation and consequences. Although tears welled back up and eventually began to flow, the anxiety, oddly enough, did not return. I was however, questioning my journey and who I was sharing it with, feeling desperate to find direction and eager for answers.

Later that evening I attended a new church with friends. During the sermon, would you guess those darn tears appeared once again? They were different this time - they were tears of joy. This message was compared to that of a seed, being planted deep into the darkest soil. Not always understanding why so deep, or so dark, but believing with proper light, that seed will grow with purpose for a successful harvest.

You see, when you believe, in whatever it is, you have protection and purpose. Purpose for something greater than the right now. As we reflect on 2016 and prepare to ring in the New Year, know that your business has been appreciated over the last 8 years. For Indian Lake Outfitters and #TeamILO, you are our purpose. Without you, we would not have been able to grow into what we are now or continue to blossom in 2017.

From all of us at Indian Lake Outfitters, we THANK YOU and wish you a very HAPPY NEW YEAR!
